there...I was up in Seattle today--the Whitestones (which hasn't been Whitestones for years) is
closed and up for sale. They'll probably tear it down before long. The Flame was turned into a pool
hall 16 or 17 years ago, but it has long since been torn down and turned into storage units---I'm
startin' to not like Seattle. By the way you old ones that know me--I'm a new grandpa this week--
gettin' to where I'd just as soon skip some of these Line Crossings.

and Smith as the X.O. At a young age my dad made me learn how to play the bagpipes (as his dad did
and his dad's dad......etc.) So I always had my pipes with me everywhere I went. Now, years later my
wife and I run a scottish import shop on Whidbey Island in Washington state (we are both pipers) and
we also teach. One of our early students and a truely great friend is a gentleman by the name
of....Bob Moss! ret. C.O. of the Staten Island. Who would of thunk! All the way back in the early
70's we shared the same dock on seperate boats together? Even though I went on to become a 'brown
shoe', I'll always be an IceBreakerman at heart. Cheers! On 12/03/05

are a special group of Coasties. Does anyone know where I could purchase a special license plate
that was sold on the Eastwind, it had a penguin on it, and the words 'Anttartica, the worlds last
frontier' I am going to check with some icebreakers, if I get a chance. The plate i had got lost in
a move at one time. I hope I hear from some of you, if only to tell each other how special we

religious quips exchanged between you and Tim Cervantez way back during AES-AWS90 and DF90-91. And
to top it all off, we had our 'fundamentalist' bible study right in your MST Dry Lab! Three
attendees at the beginning of the North trip, up to eighteen regulars at the end of the South
trip...CWO Lloyd Ford got 'saved' at our visit to Valdez, AK and is now doing kick-the-alcohol
counselling somewhere in the Seattle area. SN 'Francis' Cappola went from the Al Cairns far-left
group straight into our far-right association and attended Tim's church for awhile after the trips.
MKC Wayne Rowland is some kind of church leader over in the Port Orchard area and his son plays in a
Christian rock band. And where am I? Out of churches, through synagogues, and returning to my own
ancestral roots and thinking of the Spirits like the true Lakota (Teton Sioux) that I am!

expeditiona and work? I heard years ago there was a organization in Oregon which had plans for the
Glacier and the National Science Foundation's Hero, but that this came to naught. Anyway, if
there is any effort to commemorate this nation's Arctic and Antarctic exploration and scientific
work, (And commemorate the Northwind, Westwind, Eastwind, Glacier, Polar Sea and Star, Storis, Bear,
Corwin, Nautilius, Hero, Ernestina, Bowdoin, Roosevelt, Ellena Bolling, etc) please let me know.
As the Westwind was being decommissioned, I rescued several artifacts from the dumpster, including
an MST log book for 1982 to 87, a clamshell dipper sediment dredge, two black and white photographs
of scientific eqiupment on deck, and a ring buoy. I would like to donate these items to a
museum or polar heritage society. If anyone has any ideas, please E-mail me.
