Foxtrot 112, APR-MAY '82. We were the first double company to go through after Alameda closed. Our sister Company was Echo. We had both of the CC's from hell. Echo had BM1 Mike Cosmo, and we had GM1 'Uncle' Bob Gross, who I later served under on the INGHAM. I heard we were one of the last companies that they let the CCs march us into the ocean until the shortest person had water to their chin. A lot of fun in April. Bob must of done something to me. I retired a GMC, and kept in touch with him until a few years ago. If any of you are left out there, drop a line.

I retired back in 2005, and am working for the CG as a combat firearms instructor with the Special Missions Training Center in Camp Lejeune, NC. Wonder if any of the old gang is still out there. The whole boot camp had to high port for an hour or so while he was handcuffed to the anchor in front of the OOD shack. Oh YEAH, I remember that. Anyone else?

MK1 FRYBERGER(sp?) I was India company, I think, don't remember the #. June 1989. Never wanted any photos or to remember. MK1 was our CC, going through a divorce; taking it out on us, what a d**k. Seen our class leader guy in GM school a couple years later, he was divorced. So much for his Merchant Marine background. Never saw, nor could I recognize anyone else. We had the kid that stripped naked and laid under his bunk, refusing to move, even w/ the CC screaming in his face. That angry lil SS1 (DAmico I think) trying to be like our FRYBERGER storming in and snapping a broom stick off by hitting a bunk, the end whipping passed the face of a recruit.. God he must have S**t himself for how close he came to hurting that kid. That cute little reservist, to be; Her mom & Dad, via phone, refused to allow her off the base during our one leave. Black Flag=No problem; No a/c, windows and doors locked; Beat snaps out of India company w/in, away from prying eyes. Picking up our Pieces and doing so many push-ups our palms blistered from the road tar; our prints probably still remain in that road. All my units are now decommed': was on the Storis when we added U.S. in front of Coast Guard, GM school, the Basswood and finally Ledet Miami Bch. That's all I know!

Everyone from November 113 Cape May Sept-Nov. 82 must have fallen off the end of this flat world. My wife (at the time) and I had enlisted together in the Reserves and were sent to boot camp together and even finished together, me #1, her #2 out of 88 in our company. QMC Rhoads and I can't remember the BM1's name were our CC's. BM1 was ex-Marine and the toughest sonofabitch I EVER met. He talked me into staying in boot camp (I wanted to quit) and what a great move that was. Got out of USCG in 1987 with many outstanding memories.

Did any of ya'll do this? We didn't in W-117. I though the did it in Airdale schools but why in Boot camp. He also said that he had a back problem and they gave him the choice of a desk job or to get out. Said he got out cuz he din't want a desk job. I thought you had to be fit for duty. Just wanted to know if it sounds like BS to ya'll also. I spent 8 years in and never heard anything like this.

I went through the Prior Service Indoc on 21July 86. I dont recall if we even had a company number. DCC Stanley was our CC. I remember arriving on the bus late at night. About 10 of us on the bus were prior service and the rest were recruits. When the duty CC got on the bus, the 10 of us made a mad rush for the door. He stopped us, told us in a calm friendly voice to get off the bus, have smoke and watch the show. Once we were off the bus he started yelling and those recruits were crawling over the seats to get away from him and get off the bus. After that, he took our smokes away from us, chewed our asses a little and we were back in boot camp. When we arrived we were a ragtag bunch of Sailors, Soldiers, Airmen & Marines, three weeks later we left Cape May as proud 'Coasties'. I am retiring in Nov '06. 20 yrs 3 months in the Guard and 3 yrs 9 months in the Navy, with 3 yrs in the USNR in between. I have enjoyed everyday but 27 years is enough. Holy cow! Chris Johnson! Good to see you here, I think I ran into you either in Galveston or on a WOC Patrol on the west coast, but I can't remember for sure. Your post cracks me up, so much fun! Also remember hearing 'Sir, I am a wiggly worm, Sir' at one point, or forming up to march to dinner and having one of SS1 D'amico's boots going 'Wahhhhh' at the top of his lungs right in front of me while he was wearing his underwear on the outside. Cantrell taking us on 'short cuts' on the morning march. Bodenshot being referred to as 'IceMan' by Quinn. Few more names that pop to mind - Silverman, LaFerrier, Berson (well, he psychoed out early, I was afraid he was going to brain me with an iron). Was stationed at my first assignment (CGC Hatchet) with Mike MacGahey from V-129.

Hotel 135, Alameda, CA 14 April, 1981 to 17 June, 1981. That was when we had to do 2 weeks galley duty because there were companies forming only every 2 weeks. And the companies only went to H (the eighth letter of the alphabet). To Tim Sullivan, we were better than you ... we were Cock of the Walk, pal. Nautical Field Day was what we crapped after breakfast. We owned Alameda. BM1 Zoomer Zenone, Yeoman Walker, DCC Gray and his orange Vette and that damned dog Sloan. God, I hated that dog!!

I would like to know what has happend to everyone who was in SCD during my stay in Cape may. It was hell when I was there, but I wouldn't take anything for the experiences I had or the friends that I made. I went in as a Reserve and got out in 1987. I wasn't on active duty long, but the time that I spent on it is a memory I will never forget. Only those who experienced it will understand it.
