Lets see, I was station at CGAS San Juan form July 1967 to July 1967,I got station there out of AD school, while I was there we had a sar to the island of Martinique for some missing local fisherman, we stayed in some hotel there, any way after the day of looking for the fishermen we took a cab from the airport back to the hotel, later we all meet to have dinner and some drinks. I was at a bar with the pilots, Lt Clark and Lt Hagen, he had a good looking wife too, Clark was from Mass and a ass, any way we were having a drink when this black shoeshine boy came up to us, Clark put his arm around him and was buying him drinks, then he turn to me and said he was a better man than Ill will every be, then he reared back to punch me in the face, I moved backward and knocked down the chairs and ran out side hoping he would not follow me out, he did not. Then the next morning we all meet in front of the hotel to get a cab back to the airport, there was Hagen all banged up, fat lip, black eye and face cut up from Clark, So during the search they only spoke to each other when they had to. When we got back to San Juan they gave Hagen time off to heal up some. They should have court marshal Clark but they did not, but I think they told him to back off drinking. Big deal !!!!

I worked as an AT at CG Air Det and then CG Air Sta San Juan from '64 to '66. It was the time of my life. I flew in the HU16E 'Albatross', C123 'Smokey the Bear' & the new HH52's. Lived at the Air Sta and enjoyed all that PR had to offer.

I was stationed at CGAS San Juan 67-70 as an AT2-AT1. I used to tack on crows. Got paid back when I made first. Shoulder got so bruised I had to make them use the other arm. Is Tony Tursi's La Riviera Bar still around? Looking for Dale Lightfoot.

Was there in 59/60. Hi to Charlie & Lou. Very enjoyable tour. Remember when you took own gallon jug to Barcardi and filled it with light or dark for $1.00----yeh---one dollar. Also remember the river just west of town, where you boarded the ???ferry??? to cross. Was a barge rig, where the Captain pulled you across by hand with the rope anchored on both sides of river..
