Bill Reardon & Dan Weber BM2 was the Exc. The married guys lived behind the station in mobile homes
& the Fireman (Ray Shipley) and I lived in the station. Dick Palmer was the lead Seaman. I still
have pictures of the station & the 36' Lifeboat, Florance had a Pop.1600 and closed at sundown they
did have a Drive-in Movie where we would go and drink beer and freeze our butts. Some of my best
times in the Guard were spent with BM2 Weber on Bar Partrol fishing for Salmon & SAR, I made $68.00
month + $82.00 mo.per-diem which I paid the Loggers Cafe in town for meals. I had a friend at the
Heceta Head Lighthouse named Bob Caldwell that I used to go and play cards with.

Buck, Abernathy, and Mac showed me the ropes. I wiped alot of oil up out of the bilges of the 394
and the 401. I ran into a few of the old crew through the years at Yorktown. Just spoke with Buck
today for the first time in 17 years, hope to here from others. On

I just came from the Central Pacific off a years duty at Johnston Island, I was at Siuslaw five
months, then I was transferred to Winchester Bay for four months before my discharge. Chief Gage was
OIC, EN-1 Edwards, Fireman Rich Lamb, CS3 Niebrick, Fireman Butram, BM Seals, I can remember all of
the faces but not many names. I made EN-1 when I arrived so a few months later I was transferred to
Umpqua River Station. I met my wife Skeeter at Suislaw Station, she was a Rhododendron Festival
princess, Skeeter and I got into a little bit of trouble at the suislaw station and Skeeter was
banned for life from the station. A few years ago we had a 25 year reunion of the 'new' station, and
Skeeter was released from her lifetime ban by Chief Gage, Skeeter and I are still happily married, I
remember lots of sar calls during my short tour, and having lots of fun. We live in Lebanon,

26' UTL. Still small, the bar is still tiny, but I loved every min I spent there, was there for a
year tell 9-11 when they closed us and I ended up back at umpqua, they went back up a few months
later. On 11/26/03 Clive Lawford

44ft Motor Lifeboats. I hope to have at least one photo of every U.S. Coast Guard 44ft Motor
Lifeboat and have managed to get all but 9 out of the 110 boats built. Of course the remaining boats
become more and more difficult to find, so if anyone can help me with any photos of the 44394 which
was stationed at Siuslaw River, I would be extremely grateful. On
