(OPS) works with me as does Bob Salmon (former CO NOLA). Ben Jones and Pat Poire were my XOs. Saw
a recent picture of NMF and I must say I was very sad to see what has become of what was once a
beautifully maintained COMMSTA! Best to all in 2008.

during a surprise storm off the New England Coast in November of 1980. Several Coast Guard boats
and stations were involved and the cutter that had the most rescues was the Active. There were
several fatalities that day: the F/V Fairwind pitchpoled and only one crewman was rescued at Georges
Bank, the F/V Sea Fever lost a crew member when the pilot house windows were smashed, the F/V
Determined sank, and many more. If you know anyone that was stationed in New England during that
time, including at Cape Cod Air Station please forward this note. I am the author of several books

to tell the F/V that the Georges Bank weather buoy was malfunctioning.) Thank you, Michael Tougias

and had some good times with Bob Penney, Lenny Sheltry, Crazy (TAZ) Jimmy Vaughn, The midget Harley
rider, cool Mr. Pfeiffer, Woody, Hoopaugh. The time the emergency generator blew up during the
blizzard of 78, no power at all, freezing our butts off and Chip bringing in food on a sled. And
much more that gets foggier every day. And Mr. Brady..Hmmm, I guess I can safely confess now that I
absoluely enjoyed peeing in his gas tank. And especially my nemesis, Mr Jose Franco. One Franco in a

August 1959 to Sept. 1960. Cook by the name of Bill Church and his family were a good friends to my
wife and I. Remember Brody RM2, Chuck Montanese, an ET named Pollard, and ole Fred Siegel walked in
the door about the time I walked out. Would love to get E-Mail from anyone that served at this
time. Regards

mansion has been a private residence for years and is now for sale. The operations buildings are
being given to the town of Marshfield. The CG has been a great neighbor. We will miss them. Still
walk the property with my dogs. Best wishes to all who served at NMF.
