Hi, I am a retired Manchester Canal Pilot based in the UK and I would like some close-up photographs of of an Island class cutter to help me with the model I am building. I have a photo of the USCGC Bainbridge Island but no detail photos. Can help anyone help me. I first saw a vessel of the USCG in the Houston Canal in 1956 and the image has stayed in my mind ever since. Are there any model makers out there!!! I would be happy to help with any information for modelers from this side of the water.

It'll probably give me a lot more grey hair, but I just started research on building a 1:192 scale scratch built model of CGC Bibb (WHEC-31). That'd make the final product about 20 1/2 inches on deck, so I have to work small. Looking for pictures, the more the merrier. (I already stole ruthlessly from Willie James' site). She changed a bit over the years, I'm doing the model of how she appeared when I sailed in her in the mid-late '70's, but anything will help. I'm finding a lot of good info in the backgrounds of crew portraits. If you can help out, post 'em to Fred's Place or send 'em direct. There are 5 or 6 pictures here at fredsplace and I have at least 10 and a movie clip on Ocean Station that I can send by e-mail. Why has no one contacted me for the pictures they requested. I am looking for anyone who remembers MMII Kenneth Floyd Davis. He is my Grandfather and passed in 1963. I never got to meet him. But, I have heard that he was a wonderful man.I don't even know much about him at all. He died when my mother was 4 years old and she has been searching for anything that she can find on him for years. She had a very rough childhood and was tossed from one foster home to the next after he passed away. She is not in touch with her mother though her mother claimed she couldn't remeber anything about him. He graduated high school in 1926 so i can only assume that he joined the navy sometime after that. He was stationed in Puget Sound, Washington. And was discharged due to migrain headaches after 10 years achieving the rank of MMII (Chief Petty Officer). I am looking for anybody that can help me. He went on to graduate from Gem City College in Quincy, Illinois with a degree in watch making and gemology. He also played the Trumpet. Anything any of you could help me with would be greatly appreciated! I really want to do this for my mom for Christmas. Everybody deserves to know a little bit about their father. She tried to get records on him a few years back but all of his military records were destroyed in a federal fire building many years ago. Please, if there is anybody out there that can help me I would love to hear from you. I would love a picture (obviously :)) but even if it is just something like you knew him or anything i would be over the moon happy! Thank you all so much!! :)
