Frederick C. Wheeler, CWO4 Mach, USCGR Ret
Fred Wheeler of Murrieta, California passed away on December 17, 2003. Fred was a member of the U.S. Lighthouse Service and became a proud Coast Guardsman when the Service was absobed by the CG. He remained on active duty until 1949 when family matters required him to leave the service. He became a member of the Reserve and retired from there after 40 total years of duty. He was a member of the Lightship Sailor's Assn. and was honored as their oldest member at the reunion in Port Huron. Interment will be at the National Cemetary, Riverside, details still pending. He is survived by his loving wife Lucille and equally loving daughter, Kathy. Fair winds and following seas, my brother, my hero.
