Vern Toler

Vern Toler Crossed the Bar 6 May 2003, in Mountlake Terrace, WA (near Seattle). Born 2 Mar 1925, Vern was diagnosed with cancer on 4 April 03. On 9 April the doctor advised him to gather his family, and Hospice care was established. Vern served aboard USCGC Taney as PhM3/c during 1943-1944, and again during 1946. He later retired from the U.S. Army. Vern's extensive website for the crew of the Taney was instrumental in reconnecting old shipmates, and facilitated crew reunions. His website (http://www.armory.com/~vern) will be continued, and moved soon to a site incorporating upgrades and additional information. Vern was a good man and he will be missed by his shipmates. Services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery on 29 MAY 2003 at the Arlington Chapel at 15:00 hrs. Smooth sailing, my friend!
