ADCM Grable L. Sutton

Grable L. Sutton -WRIGHTSVILLE, GA - Graveside services for Master Chief Grable L. Sutton, USCGRET, age 73, of Wrightsville, GA, will be held 11A.M. Tuesday, September 6, 2005 in Graham Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Sutton died Friday, September 2, 2005. -Mr. Sutton was born in Laurens County. He was the son of the late Julius W. Sutton and the late Alma Tanner Sutton. He graduated from Brewton High School in 1948, from there he went to Warner Robins Apprentice School. Served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1950 until he retired in 1977 in Elizabeth City, NC. He returned to Johnson County in 1994. He was a Member of the Star King Masonic Lodge for fifty-one years, and the CPO Association. He was preceded in death by a brother Earl Sutton and a beloved sister-in-law, Evelyn Smith Sutton. -Survivors include: wife of fifty-one years, Edith Ann Sutton of Wrightsville, GA; children, Richard L. and Anna Sutton of Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica, Kelley S. and Paul Van Dyke of Kodiak, AK, Sue S. and Mark Williams of Athens, GA; grandchildren, Mary Hadley, Kelley, Kate, and Meg Williams and Annie Van Dyke; sister, Faye Sutton Davis of Johnson County; brother, Roy Sutton of East Dublin, GA. -In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice, the American Cancer Society, the Harlie Fulford Library of Wrightsville or the Athens Academy, Athens GA. -The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Monday at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.
