Thomas E. Stringer

My daughter, Tianee Marie Stringer and I, would love to hear from anyone who served with or knew my husband, Tom Stringer or my father, Charles D 'Doug' Mills CWO4. My father lived in Cocoa Beach, Florida after retirement in 1970. He passed away on October 16,1998 while in Tennessee visiting his mother and doing what he loved to do best in the world, play golf with his best friend of of over 40 years, Coleman C. Sanders, also retired Coast Guard. Tom passed away March 27, 2002, in Hollywood, Florida, after finding out 10 days earlier that he had lung cancer. Tom retired from the Coast Guard in 1973. He spent the next 10 years as chief mate and then as captain of the RSB-1, a naval research ship out of FT. Lauderdale, Florida. He then went to work for Broward County Parks and Recreation. He was with the parks for 17 years, the last 8 as Assistant Superintendent. He would have retired in 2003. His last day of employment was Friday, March 22,2002, just 5 days before his death. Please share with Tianee and myself, any memories that you might have. It helps us through the hard times, especially at this time of the year.
