CWO-4 Leo Steele, USCG Retired
LEO STEELE
If ever a man loved his family, his country and aviation, it was my friend
Leo Steele. He raised nine children, and found time to be a friend to
every one of them. Even as an enlisted man he owned an airplane. We
had an old Luscombe 8A together, and he taught my wife to fly in it.
He once flew from Miami to San Juan, PR in a Cessna 140. He roamed
Alaska in it. As a crew man, he was the most dedicated, from the old
Douglas and Hall Boats to the latest CG Aircraft.
He died this morning at 11 AM. Funeral is Saturday, in San Diego.
Fair breeze and following seas, old friend.
