GMC Richard W. Siewierski
It is with regret that I announce the passing of GMC Richard Siewierski,
USCG (ret). Having fought cancer off twice before, he finally lost his
battle on 08 November 1998. Retiring in 1977, some may remember Ski from
the Alameda Training Center, where he taught many a recruit at the range.
He represented the Coast Guard, earning many awards, shooting on the rifle
team in both D9 and D3. As an instructor at GM A School, Ski taught many
GM's, and even our Vietnamese allies, at Governor's Island, NY. Throughout
his career Ski served at the Grand Haven Lifeboat Station, Group Sault
Ste. Marie, was a plank owner of the CGC Midgett and served on the CGC
Mackinaw, as well. A proud member of the CPOA, he will be sorely missed.
