MKC Stephen C. Sawyer
On the morning of September 4th, 1998 our friend and shipmate Steve Sawyer
passed away in his home in Hemet, CA. Steve's battle with cancer went on
for more than a year and a half before it took his life. After 18 years
of service to the Coast Guard, Steve was medically retired on June 1,
1998. He is survived by his wife and three young sons. A memorial
service will be held at Activities San Diego on Monday, Sep 14 at 1030.
God Bless You and Keep You Steve.

I just read today that MKC Sawyer passed away on September 4th after a
long battle with cancer. I served with him on the Buttonwood, when he was
an MK1. He was a good shipmate and will be missed.

Steve, I can honestly say that it was a pleasure to work with you, and I'm a better person because of it. Your attitude won me over, especially during the port calls from Baltimore through the ditch and on up to the Bay Area. Denise and I think of you and your family often. I miss you, brother, and I apologize for taking so long to say it. Adios.
