John Leroy Roland
John Leroy Roland, 64, of 193 Lee Rogers Road, Hubert, died Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at his home.
He was born on Aug. 5, 1943, to Roy and Faye Hathaway Roland in Eugene, Ore. He retired from the U.S. Coast Guard in 1982 with 20 years' service as a Master Chief Petty Officer, having served one tour of duty in Vietnam. After his retirement he relocated to Cedar Point and became the Service Manager for Sound Furniture, retiring a second time in 1998. John attended Enon Chapel Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Annette Hill Roland of the home; two daughters, Lisa Ramey and husband Carl, their children Miguel, Shandi and Skylar of Caldwell, Idaho, and Crystal Foster and husband Michael, their children Cedar and Aspen of Waianae, Hawaii; step daughter, Ashleigh Smith and husband Jeremy, their children Jeri-Beth and Heather of Kinston; step son, Ronnie Foyles and wife Lisa, their children Tyler, Paul and Faith of Kinston; niece, Jane Neis and husband Gene Stieben of Eudora, Kan.; and nephew, Larry Neis of Hubert. John is also survived by several great nieces and nephews as well as cousins.
The family would like to thank the staff of Carteret General Hospital, the staff of Duke University Clinics and Hospital, as well as the Staff of Community Home Care and Hospice.
