TTC Dennis Reynolds, (Ret)

Dennis passed away of a heart attack on Oct. 10, 2001, at Odell Lake, Oregon. Dennis came to Coos Bay in 1962, while stationed on the USCGC Modoc, after spending 4 years in the U.S. Army. He spent 19 more years in the Coast Guard, spending 2 years in Thailand during the Vietnam era. He retired in 1979 from the Coast Guard as a Telephone Techician Chief and went to work for the Coos Bay School District. He did the maintenance on the football fields during the late '80s and early '90s, when the Marshfield football teams were state champions. He retired after 23 years. Dennis was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, International Handgun Metallic Silhouette Association and was a member of the Oregon and National Lighthouse Society. He enjoyed rock and coin collecting. He also enjoyed silhouette shooting. He shot a perfect score at the West Coast championships in July 2001, in Grants Pass. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Dottie Reynolds of Coos Bay, OR; sons, Darrin Reynolds of Bend, OR and Derrek Reynolds of Virginia Beach, VA.
