Cliff Raines
Cliff Raines (MIO New York '91-'93) was killed in an auto accident on November 9, 1998 in Georgia.
The following is an excerpt from an e-mail received from LCDR Ed Zacharias....

I just received word from Cliff's sister (Bonnie) that Cliff passed away on Monday AM. He died in a car accident in Georgia. The witnesses stated that Cliff had just completed a normal passing of a truck when his car appeared to hydroplane. His car slid off the road and hit head on into the guard rail. Cliff was killed instantly. Cliff and his wife only recently celebrated the birth of their 3rd child.
Cliff [was] laid to rest ... in Utah. [He leaves a widow and 5 children.]
Bonnie asks that all those who knew and loved Cliff pray for him and his family.

Cliff Raines
I am deeply saddened to learn of Cliff's passing. I remember many long days with him inspecting liferafts at Revere in Chelsea, NY.
I am a better Coastie for having known him. An excellent mentor, a kind man and a patient soul.
