RADM Paul Prins
PRINS, PAUL G.(REAR ADMIRAL USCG, RET.), 89, died Sunday April 6, 2003 at Waterman Village, Mount Dora, Florida. He was born to the late Eiter and Mary Early Prins on November 20, 1913 at Maywood, Illinois. RADM Prins was a graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy Alumni Association and a member of St. Andrews Greek Orthodox Church. His distinguished career included service in both WWII and Vietnam where he received many decorations including the Meritorious Service Medal, USCG Unit Commendation, USN Unit Commendation with Two Stars, American Defense Service Medal With Fleet Clasp, European-African- Middle Eastern Area With Two Stars, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal as well as other decorations including some from Portugal and Greece. He was predeceased by a daughter, Karen Prins and his wife, Helen S. Prins. Survivors include his son Peter E. Prins and wife Maria of Miami, Florida, three brothers; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A graveside service with full military honors will be at 11AM Friday, April 25, 2003 at Arlington National Cemetery. Arrangements are by ALLEN J. HARDEN FUNERAL HOME, 1800 N.
