James Patton, RMCM (Retired)
MasterChief Radioman James (Jim) Patton has left us but will never be forgotten. As a mentor, as a fellow RM, as a leader, as a friend - he will remain with us forever. The Radioman rate although disestablished will not be forgotten - we forged a personal relationship among our peer group that was unmatched throughout the Coast Guard. Jim Patton was a leader among men who showed and received respect and honour. I knew Jim for some 40 years, we were stationed together many times and a better friend one could never have. God Bless you and keep you.
Services are being held monday - 3 May 1999 in Yulee, Florida at the Green Pines Funeral Home at 11am...

I just want to thank all those who expressed their sympathy for our family in the passing of my father. For all those who dropped everything to be at the service, all those who sent cards and or flowers, thank you. My father was a private man, but generous with his time and advice (something I didn't always appreciate). He was a good, decent, honest man. He made a difference, he saved lives. I'm very proud of him and I miss him. Thanks Dad - for teaching me about honor and for being a hero.

I should have listened to my intuition when a few weeks ago I had the urge to call the Pattons just to say hello and see if Master Chief was doing okay. Instead, I came home to a letter in my mailbox stating the sad news.
I feel honored to have made his acquaintance. I don't think anyone else could have captivated me as he did when I saw him last, in January, with your *Old Guard* experiences, and with stories of his life as well. I thank God that he is not suffering any more.
