ADC Richard Osborn

Evening Colors, that monthly news letter, good and sometimes sad reportings. One was friend Osborn.Last August Dick (Ozzie) Osborn cleaned out his locker and made peace with the Coast Guard, last transfer accomplished. We are such a nomadic bunch, I did not know of his going until now.Dick was a former marine. Once, back in 1947, when we landed on Iwo Jima to supply a new Loran station just off shore, Dick crawled out of the after bomb bay of the PB4Y2 and exclaimed, the last time I was here it was one hell of a lot different. He had been a crew member of a torpedo bomber, fresh in to the newly liberated landing strips on Iwo. His remembrance showed, for there was a catch in his voice. He was one of the best plane captains we ever had. God rest his soul.ack
