CDR John R. Neu
It is with very heavy hearts that we post this memorial for our father, CDR John R. Neu, USCG (ret), 58, who Crossed the Bar on February 14th, 2003 at his home after a 5 month battle with lung cancer. He began his career with the Coast Guard in 1962 and his assignments include Coast Guard cutters, SWEETGUM, RELIANCE, WALNUT & RED BIRCH; LORAN Station, Sattahip, Thailand; Captain of the Port, Miami, FL; Assistant Director of Auxiliary, Harrisburg, PA; Seventh Coast Guard District, Miami, FL; Eighth Coast Guard District, New Orleans, LA; and Pacific Area Hearing Office, Alameda, CA. He retired in 1989 to his hometown of Jacksonville, Florida. Besides his children, he leaves a wife, Pam, 5 granddaughters and 2 grandsons. He was a life-long Notre Dame fan and enjoyed many great fishing trips. We are very proud of him and miss him greatly.
