Slyvester 'Butch' Mrozek
after some contacts and a phone call, I am sad to report a passing
of one of our Barataria Vietnam veteran shipmates .SN Slyvester 'Butch' Mrozek passed away
December 13, 2003 from an aneurysm. Butch was a fun shipmate we all had good times with on the
Barataria. He was from Sault St.Marie Michigan where he just retired from the Soo locks just a few
years ago. I Ran into Sly in Sault St. Marie in May of 1996. Sly couldn't make it to the 2002
cuttermans reunion because of personal issues but a few of us was working on him to attend in
August 2006. After returning back from Vietnam in January 1968, Sly spent his remaining enlistment
on the USCGC Castle Rock in Portland Maine. God bless.
