LCDR Richard Motter, USCG, Retired
With sadness I have just learned of the passing of Richard Motter. Dick
was a true and loyal friend to me and my family. I feel a real sadness at
his passing. As a new Warrant in 1979, he helped me buy a home in Seattle.
He did more than that, he helped me and my family through a tough
transition with advice and support above and beyond what was required.
He was a friend and a mentor. He supported the USCG CW&WOA with his
mind and heart...he always said it was our union. The Seattle chapter
probably would have disappeared without the leadership of him and a
dedicated few. The Scholarship fund was his baby... May God bless
and keep him in peace and harmony. Dick, fair winds and smooth seas,
and as a fellow icebreaker sailor...plenty of ice to break.
