RM1 Don Morisch
In a recent Retiree's Newsletter, I read that RM1 Don Morisch had passed
away this past summer. Don and I were stationed together at Commcen
Seattle and stayed in touch for a number of years afterwards. Don
had been stationed on USCGC Staten Island and CG Radsta Westport.
He came to visit us while I was at RM B School at NTC San Diego and
my family and I last visited him at his duty station at Gru Humboldt
Bay in 1975. He was a low-profile individual and very good-natured.
He was an avid philatelist and provided me with a first-day cover when
Polar Star's keel was laid. That cover is displayed in my on-line photo
collection. He was also a dedicated family man to his wife, Pat, and
their two children. He will be missed by all who knew him.
