LTCdr. Stanley W. Mead
It is sad for me to post the final crossing of the bar of Mr. Mead. A better man I and many others served with and under there is not. Stan first entered the service of his country during World War 2 with the Army. He served under Patton during the Battle of the Buldge. After the war Stan entered the Coast Guard as an enlisted man serving on many units and rising to the rank of Lt. Commander. His last assignments were as Group Commander Grays Harbor, and Commanding Officer Station Cape Disappointment. Stan retired in 1974. He was a fare man and liked by all. While at the Cape the Meads resided at the station housing and every morning rain or shine when colors were raised you could look up the road towards housing and see Stan at attention and saluting the colors. Fair winds and following seas Mr. Mead you will be missed and remembered by many. Stan is survived by his wife Colleen and Son Bill of Hiisdale MI.
