Clarence 'Buck' Lewis

A Good friend of mine passed away June 16, 1997. Buck was born August 20, 1918.Buck served aboard the USS LONG BEACH (pf-34) as a Gunners Mate First Class. He was an artistand had a very nice studio in his home at 3824 Fifth Avenue North, here in Great Falls, Montana. Buck had been a vaudeville roller skater, a World War II veteran, and a County Treasurer during his life.During his time aboard the Long Beach Buck kept a personal log. After the war he converted his log entries into book-formso that other PF sailors could relate to his adventures. (He did a good job on his book Preserving Memories.) If you are an old Coast Guard Patrol Frigate sailor as I am, you will find a very clear and detailed photo of the PF-2 USS NATCHEZ at http://www.navsource.org. 5/13/98
