The Lost Souls of CGNR 6549 of 1997, CGNR 6541 of 1994, and CGNR 1363 of 1964
As some of you may have read in earlier posts, the CPOA of Group Humboldt
Bay have organized a massive effort to erect the Humboldt Bay Memorial.
The Humboldt Bay Memorial honors the brave Coast Guardsmen of the CGNR
6549 of 1997, CGNR 6541 of 1994, and CGNR 1363 of 1964 who were lost in
the line of duty on the North Coast. Located on the grounds of Coast Guard
Air Station Humboldt Bay in a quiet, contemplative area near a grove of
trees, the memorial is a lasting tribute to their ultimate sacrifice so
that others may live. The Memorial, which was completed through donated
funds and volunteer work, will be dedicated this Saturday, 1100 PST,
October 24, 1998. All are invited to attend. For more information,
please call YNC Griffiths at 707-839-6121. If you are unable to attend,
you can view pictures of the memorial in it's construction phase at
http://members.tripod.com/~GruHumBay/index.html. Pictures
of the Memorial in it's completed state and pictures from the dedication
ceremony will be posted Saturday evening to the web site above.
