Joe Kiser
My father, Joe Kiser, suffered a massive heart attack on Friday, 27 Feb
98. He was revived twice during transit to the hospital but irreperable
damage was done to his brain due to lack of oxygen and his heart was
severely damaged. Despite the damage, his heart continued to try. A
ventilator kept him breathing. At 1455 hrs on Saturday, 28 Feb 98,
his heart gave out and I authorized no further treatment in accordance
with instructions he had previously given me for such a situation.
However, not even he could have known or prepared me for the
heart-wrenching sorrow caused by carrying out that instruction.
I miss you, Dad, but I did what you wanted. No machine could keep
you the way you were.
