George R. Ketenheim

My father passed away in his home on his anniversary on 05/06/08. He went very peacefully. He was battling many illnesses at once. He is survived by his 1st wife Linda (Jenkins) Ketenheim... His five daughters/son-in-laws and grandchildren who are Kristi Pacella w/ husband Buddy and son Zack... Vikki Rose w/ husband Victus and children Elizabeth and Little Victus... Kim Ketenheim (She has taken care of our father for the past 2 years and has been there for him every step of the way. She is a true angel!)... Eve Gober-Avery w/ husband Christopher and children Tyler, Matthew, Austin, Parker and Erica... and youngest daughter Kitty Ketenheim. My dad also is survived by his 2nd wife Dawn Ketenheim and step son Jason Babinec and his wife Jenn w/ baby on the way. He was fresh out of high school in '58' when he drove a truck for a bit then he joined the Coast Guard in '58' or '59'. He LOVED it! He started in Cape May for boot camp then on to the Escanaba to which he went to New London (?) for electronics training to then find his final Coast Guard days on the Duane. I loved his stories he would tell. One in particular... He was high above on the (communications?) tower fixing something and a fellow shipmate turned it on even w/ the paper on the electronics board saying not to and he started spinning in circles. He said once he got down and after being sick for a few min. he tried to find the shipmate but he managed to stay hidden the rest of the time they were underway. He wound up forgiving him. LOL! He then got out of the Coast Guard mainly due to his large family at home... 5 girls, God help him! :-) He sacrificed a lot for us which we will never forget! He gave me the love for the ocean. So much so that I married a Gunners Mate in the Navy. Ah the stories they would tell as well as the confrontational... who was better than whom...LOL! Coast Guard always won! LOL! I just wanted to thank you all who kept in touch w/ him after all these years! He truly loved his country and proud to serve for his short time. All of us would love any pictures you may have and or stories to share that involved our dad. We miss him terribly but know that he is not suffering any longer! Thank you all for everything you have done and continue to do for us as a country!
