CDR Philip Jordan
CDR Philip Jordan crossed the bar on December 4th, 2002. after a long illness. CDR Jordan retired from the United States Coast Guard Reserves after 25 years of service. He was a rural development teacher and co-principal for 2 years in Liberia, West Africa with the International Voluntary Services. Mr. Jordan taught in the Chicago Public School System for 7 years, and was employed as a teacher, principal, and director of technology in New Buffalo Area Schools for 28 years. He served as volunteer coordinator of technology at St. Mary of the Lake School, in New Buffalo, as well as co chairman of the school's building committee. As the Unit Training Officer for Reserve Unit - Chicago, CDR Jordan's strong educational background was mostly responsible for the many advancements the unit members experienced during CDR Jordan's tenure there. Jordan was a member of St. Agnes Church in Sawyer. He was a Life Member of the Reserve Officers of America, The Naval Institute, and a member of the Economic Club of Southwestern Michigan.
