Edward Brooks John, Jr.
It is with heavy heart, but blessed optimism to announce the passing of Retired 1st Class Seaman and Coxswain, Edward Brooks John, of Galveston County, at 0500 hrs. on 31 December 1999. Edward enlisted in the U.S.C.G. Reserve in 1943, and received his honorable discharge in 1946. Edward John was a descendant of the Texas Statesman, Sam Houston and lived most his life in Texas. Serving aboard the LST 69 from Alameda, Ca., and the Cutter COLUMBINE out of Honolulu, he served this country during its need, and was a credit to the tradition of the U.S.C.G. Edward Brooks John was 72 years old. Your prayers and replies will be greatly apreciated.
