RADM Julian E. Johansen USCG (ret)
When we returned home from a trip on this past Tuesday, my wife and I
were saddened to learn that our friend (and my former boss) RADM
Julian E. Johansen had passed away. When we first met, in the early
70's I was admonished, along with a large contingent of reserve officers
that only his mother called him Julian, that his friends called him
Joe and that the rest of us should call him Admiral. On the day he retired
he told all of us to start calling him Joe.
Joe was a fine officer, a great leader and a friend. Those of us who had the
chance to know him, serve on his staff, and be his friend all feel a
great loss. Condolences to his Wife and Family for a great ADMIRAL.
