William Kirk 'Bill' Hermes

This obituary was published January 13, 2008 in the Lansing State Journal, Lansing, Michigan. William Kirk 'Bill' Hermes Lansing, MI Passed away Thursday, January 10, 2008 at the age of 76. Bill was born October 20, 1931 in Lansing, the son of Dr. E.J. and Dawn (Conrad) Hermes. He was an avid outdoorsman, a great fisherman and hunter. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served in the Coast Guard. He was very proud of his service and had a continuous interest in the Coast Guard. He was a super salesman and worked for many Lansing industries. He retired as Branch Manager from Kendall Electric in 1996. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, James; a daughter, Susan Marie; and a brother, Joseph Hermes. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary (Tobin) Hermes; daughters, Joan of Wisconsin and Kimberly of Lansing; a son, John of Colorado; 4 grandchildren, James and Angela Davis, and Ashley and Brandon Post; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Thomas of Lansing and Michael of Benzonia, MI; and several loving nieces and nephews. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 955 Alton Rd., East Lansing with the Rev. Fr. David Speicher as celebrant. Visitation will begin at the church at 9:00 a.m. Memorials can be made to a charity of one's choice. Condolences can be made at www. palmerbush.com.
