James S. Harris Chief Boatswains Mate Retired
James S. Harris CPO passed away October 5, 2003 in the War Veteran's Home in Milledgeville GA. after having a massive heart attack. Jim served on the Yakutat in New Bedford, MA and later was stationed at Cape May as an instructor. He retired from the USCG at Cape May in 1965. Jim was a very special person taking a personal interest in the welfare of many of the young men who served with him. I am pleased to say I was one of those young Coasties whose life in the CG was enriched by him.
