May 7, 1958 BM3 Robert Gullickson, crewman of the Huron Lightship, WAL-526 near Port Huron, MI was lost at sea after the liberty boat of the ship sank returning to the lightship from the Port Huron Lifeboat Station. BM3 Gullickson sacrificed his life attempting to seek aid for his shipmate, CS1 Vincent Disch of Janesville, WI who was rescued by his shipmate, Engineman 3rd Class Neil C. Hamilton of Buffalo, NY
