CPO James Earl Gallaway
I am sad to annoumce that Retired Chief James
Gallaway crossed the bar in Yakima, Washington on 11 May 2005. Chief Gallaway joined the Coast
Guard before WWII and served until February 1961. He served on escort duty in the North Atlantic
during the war. He retired to Yakima and won 3rd place in the Irish Sweepstakes in 1972. He was
85.
