YNC Kenneth N. Fredrickson (ret)

YNC Kenneth N. Fredrickson passed away on August 20, 2000 from losing a long battle from cancer. I regret not being able to attend the East Coast Memorial and Burial Ceremony at Otis AFB on 9/8/00 but to remember my friend and true brother as I last saw him will always be in my memory. From the first time I met Ken 4 years ago, our Spirits became unified as we shared a common faith in the Lord Jesus. During these years Ken demonstrated to me what it meant to be a true friend, brother and Coast Guardsman. He was always available when I needed to talk about professional or personal issues, and never failed to give the proper advise and direction. My memory shall always reminds me of how full of life he was, always making a positive impact on those around him. I know this is not good-bye forever but only for a short time until we are reunited in Heaven with our Savior, Jesus Christ. You will be greatly missed as I think of you often and am very thankful for you being there for me so many times. I praise the Lord on all the good reports of you over the past year and yearn more than ever to 'stay close to the Shepherd'. You've ran the race and have now received, through unselfish and tireless efforts in the faith, the Crown of Righteousness, PTL. So long my beloved brother and dear friend. Yours forever, Ben

YNC Kenneth N. Frederickson, USCG (ret)

YNC Ken Frederickson Crossed The Bar on Sunday, August 20, 2000, in Port Angeles, WA after loosing his battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Michelle and three children. A West Coast Memorial Service was hosted by Group/AirSta Port Angeles, WA on Thursday, August 24, 2000 with over 300 in attendance. An East Coast Memorial service will be held on Friday, September 8, 2000 at the Base Chapel on Otis ANGB, Cape Cod, MA at 10:00 a.m. with burial at the National Cemetery (also on Otis) at 11:30 a.m., with a short reception to follow at the Chapel Support Building. Any questions can be directed to Chaplain Brown at (508) 968-6341 or after Sep 5th, AST1 Carter at (508) 968-6393. Freddie was a great Friend, Mentor, Shipmate, and Leader throughout the First District for years prior to going West. He served onboard CGC ACTIVE, GRU Woods Hole, AirSta Cape Cod and D1 staff for starters. He is well known and regarded throughout still. Please pass this word to all who may want to know, as many retirees are still in the area and would want to know. I would like to thank all my Coast Guard Shipmates and staff for their timely notification and continued coordination of the network in passing the sad news, West Coast services, coordination of services on Otis, being the POCs for info, and all the other behind the scenes work entailed in the West Coast services and the transfer of the Guard to the East Coast. A special Thank You to his Command and staff for finalizing his retirement prior to his passing. It just goes to show you the affect that one person can have on many! That in itself is a tribute to Ken's legacy! We'll all miss him playing Rats, his practical jokes, playing marathon softball tournaments, teaching us how to be the best we can be, and not accepting any less! He used to say, it's not Goodbye, it's Until We Meet Again. I'm sure he'll have their system up and running and be ready to teach us all again! Fair Winds My Friend . . . Until We Meet Again!
