This is a real shock. I too was with Jim on the Eagle back in 1977 and ran into him when he came to the Clinic on GI. I'll never forget the dependents cruise when Jim, his father, and his brother changed tack on the Eagle by themselves. The Coast Guard has lost a true sailor.

Just read that Jim passed away from cancer. I knew Jim over the years on the Eagle back in the seventies and saw him just before I left Miami he was CO of the PT Barnes in 97. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. God Bless you Jim

My brother Jim would be proud to see some of the e-mails I have gotten from some of his old shipmates. Jim crossed peacfully over the bar and had no regrets and only fond memories of the Coast Guard. There will be a memorial service for Jim 20 Jan. in his hometown of Fall River, Ma., his ashes will be spread at sea off of Westport Point, Ma on 17 March 01, on an 82 out of Group Woods Hole I believe, back to the sea which he loved so much.
