Harold Flagg BMCS USNR

On June 2nd 2004 Harold Flagg a retired SCPO USNR died. Harold was one of 5 crew members on leave when the Vineyard Lightship sank with all hands on September 15 , 1944. Those 5 crew members made a vow to keep the history of their lost shipmates and the Vineyard Lightship alive for future generations to see. 52 years later Harold Flagg kept that promise. The symbol of all lightship sailors who lost their life on duty is the recovered bell off the sunken Vineyard Lightship. It sits in New Bedford honoring all Lightship sailors and most importantly to Harold the crew of the Vineyard Lightship. Harold was a fellow Chief and good friend. It was my honor to be part of his vow. May he rest in peace and now meet his lost crew of the 1944 Vineyard Lightship. Harold my dear friend rest in peace. BZ.
