Robert (Bob) Charles Elmore Former Juneau
resident Robert Charles Elmore, 52, died Feb. 6, 2005, in Fairbanks.He was born to George and
Bobbi Elmore on Nov. 3, 1952, in Chattanooga, Tenn. He moved with his family to Miami, Fla., where
he lived until he joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1969. He served in Vietnam with the Third Marine
Division of the Seventh Fleet as a heavy equipment operator.Upon separation from the Marine Corps,
he enlisted in the Coast Guard. After 20 years of military service, he served as the veterans'
representative for Southeast Alaska. He was instrumental in bringing the Vietnam Moving Memorial
Wall to Alaska. He served as the regional manager for the Northern Region of the Alaska Department
of Labor. He was a member of American Legion Post #57, Fairbanks Elks Chapter, and active in
various veteran's programs. He received his bachelor's degree in philosophy in 1994.He enjoyed
motorcycles, the Miami Dolphins, hunting, fishing, hiking, photography, and spending time with his
family and friends.He was preceded in death by his father George and grandparents Robert and
Catherine McNabb.Bob served on the 17th District Intelligence and Law Enforcement Staff in the
late 1970s. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Kathie; children Sean, Ryan and Erin of
Fairbanks, Christine and her husband David Burns of Hendersonville, N.C., and Amy and her husband
Chris Wilson; grandchildren Michaela and Kade of Daytona, Fla.; mother Bobbi Jean Elmore of Davie,
Fla.; sister Betty and her husband Norman Labush; brothers-in-law Jim and wife Janine Jacobsen of
Issaquah, Wash., Bob and wife Darlene Jacobsen of Juneau, and John and wife Tina Jacobsen of
Keller, Tex.; sister-in-law Karen and husband Jeff Hansen of Juneau; many nieces and nephews and
friends.A memorial service was held at 5:30 p.m., Feb. 11 at Holy Family Chapel in Fairbanks.
Donations can be made in his name to the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 4, P.O. Box 22588,
Juneau, AK, 99802 or to Catholic Schools of Fairbanks.A celebration of his life will be held this
summer in Juneau. His ashes will be spread at the cabin on Seymour Canal with the remainder at the
Shrine of St. Therese, where he and Kathie were married. Bob served on the 17th District
Intelligence and Law Enforcement staff in the late 1970s.
