Donald J Ellwood

Donald J Ellwood Sr Age 82 Formerly of Brooklyn Park, MN. Died November 23, 2005 at Tidewell Hospice in Venice, FL. He was born January 12, 1923 in Minneapolis, MN. He was preceded in death by wife Mary P 'Marie', daughter Susan, parents Joseph and Anna, sisters Marie and Joanne. Survived by wife, Lulagean, sons Donald Jr. and Patrick (Connie), daughters Mary Manning (John), Patricia Cyr (Richard) and Dawn Northway (Steve), Also survived by stepson Daniel Kilker (Jan) of Mentor, OH, grandchildren John (Zulfiya), David, Marnie, Bobby, Angie (Rudolfo), Sarah, Amy, Mike, Samantha, Jake, Amanda, Mary and Shelby, step grandaughter (Erin) and great-grandchildren Tiana, Maximillian and Marian. Donald was proud to serve in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1941 to 1946 aboard the LST 168, and also at Pigeon Point Lighthouse in Pescadero, CA. Upon discharge, he followed in his father’s footsteps and became a Motion Picture Machine Operator and a member of IATSE Local 219, where, for many years, he held the offices of Financial Secretary and Business Agent. He was a longtime member of the American Legion, VFW, Elks and a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He retired in 1988 and moved to North Port, FL. In November of 2005 he lost his battle to lung cancer. He is and forever will be in our hearts, but his soul is home. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.
