No finer man ever walked the bridge of a ship. I served with him aboard the Cutter IVY out of Astoria Oregon in the mid 60's.

Capt. John J. Dirschel

I read of Capt. John Dirschel's passing on May 31 1997 in Astora Oregon. A finer Skipper never lived. It was a pleasure to serve with him and I will treasure his memory as a friend and shipmate. A real Red Boat Skipper, served with him on board CGC Glacier June 1976 to June 1978. My best to his family.
