KENNETH M. DECKER SR., 76, of Far Hills, whose wife and daughter live in MONMOUTH BEACH, died Wednesday, May 5, at Morristown Memorial Hospital. He was president and owner of Kennedy and Decker Coal Co. of Chatham and owned Charley's Aunt Restaurant, Chatham. He was a Navy and Coast Guard veteran of World War II. He received a bachelor's degree in business administration from Pace University in New York City in 1954. He was a member of the New York Coal Trade Association and past member of the Chatham Chamber of Commerce. Born in Elizabeth, he lived in Convent Station, Morris Township, before moving to Far Hills five years ago.
He was predeceased by his parents, William and Magdalena Rauh Decker; and brothers George and William Decker. Surviving are his wife, Helen Ann Houston Decker of Monmouth Beach; two daughters and sons-in-law, Anne C. and Joseph Bogner of Monmouth Beach, and Kathryn M. Decker-Scheetz and her husband, Thomas, of Monmouth Beach; a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth M. and Linda Decker of Far Hills; and four grandchildren, J. Matthew and Elizabeth M. Bogner, K.M. Jake Decker and Helen Ann Decker-Scheetz.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Doyle Funeral Home, 106 Maple Ave., Morristown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Church of Christ the King, New Vernon.
