Remembering the crew of CG6549
Though it has been three years since the Coast Guard, friends and family have suffered the loss. The crew of 6549 will always be remembered. Even though I only was close with two of the crew: Jeff Crane and Jaime Caines, I got to know the other two men, Thigpen and Hughes. Their families loss became one felt by many. On June 8 th 1997 when their hilo went down a little piece of us went into the Pacific with them. Everytime I hear the distintive Coast Guard helicopter flying overhead, I will remember. Everytime I hear of a rescue, I will remember. Everytime I think of heroes, I will remember. Everytime I hug my husband when he comes home, I will remember. Every June 8th, we will remember and we will miss you all.

The Price We Pay 'So Others May Live'!My life revovles around water, work
and play a like. I'm proud of the path I have chosen for my career. I
along with many others, serve and protect our dream and right to freedom.
But for every right there is a price we all pay, and throughout history
men and women have sacrificed their lives for us. I do not want to die,
but my life would not be lost in vain if it was taken to save another.
Though the lose of friends, family, and co-workers sorrows me, I wipe the
tears away and go on doing my job, my comfort is 'SO OTHERS MAY LIVE'.
Dedicated to Sta Quillayute, WA Boat 44363 13 FEB 97 and
Air Sta Humbolt Bay, CA Helo 6549 31 MAY 97.
