BMC Fred Coffin
Fred 'Wiggles' Coffin passed over the bar May 1,2004. He was one of the best Chiefs in the Coast Guard I have ever meet. I was stationed with Chief Coffin in the late 60's and learned what I call today as the Old Coast Guard. 'Steel men and steel ships'. Fred was and always will be 'The Chief'. I was stationed with Chief Coffin at Brant Point Station in the late 60's. Knew him when he was the Captain of the CGC Point Jefferson. He had a reputation of being fair and squared away, a Chief I designed my own career from. He was a true sailor and a person I would have sailed with on any mission.
Thank you for the memories Chief. BZ.
