CWO(Rele) Robert Casale, USCG(Ret)

A sorry note to inform users of fredsplace that CWO(Rele) Robert 'Cal' Casale USCG(Ret) and his wife Jane were both killed in an automobile accident on May 9th in Effington, Ill on vacation enroute to Michigan. Their son Bob Master Chief USCG(Ret) informed me they had pulled over well off the road side to either check map or change drivers and were struck from behind by 19yr old college student travelling 80-90 mph. Bob and younger brother Gary, also USCG(Ret) both live in the New Orleans area. Arrangements pending with GRUCOM New Orleans for burial at sea. Memorial services were held May 17th in Bradenton, FL. I've known them both since 1951 and two of the greatest people I've ever met. I'm sure there are many out there in fredsplace that either worked with or for Cal at some point or another. A few of Cal's assignments during his career covered various assignments from Westport Radio, the Isle of Rhoades, Greece, San Francisco, Honolulu, New Orleans and Miami Radio Stations and CCGD7(OC) with subsequent retirement in the Tampa Bay area. Survived by son's Bob, Gary and Dana with several grand and great-grand children. Donations to any cancer charity in their names would be appreciated. Son Bob's email rcasale@iscnola.uscg.mil if you'd like for personal contact.
