LCDR Leonard L. Bouler
Leonard L. Bouler 76 of Sweet Water Alabama passed over the bar August 12. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy where he served as a 'frogman' in the Pacific Campaign in WWII. He received five silver and six bronze stars as well as the Purple Heart. He joined the U.S. Coast Guard . He holds the distinction of being the youngest man of his rank in the history of the Coast Guard and was in command of his own unit since the age of 21. He started as an enlisted seaman, rose then through the enlisted ranks then retired as a Lt. commander. After retiring from the Coast Guard he was a river Boat Pilot on the Mississippi River for three years until he was approached by Gov Waller of Mississippi to head the Boat and Water Safety commission for the state. He was a Mason of the 32 degree and a Shriner. He will be missed by all.
