CDR Jon G. Beyer

I regret to inform you of the death of CDR Jon Gerrard Beyer, USCG on 18 November 2003. CDR Beyer died in New Bern, North Carolina after a year long fight with brain cancer. Jon was born June 5th, 1964 in El Paso, Texas. He graduated with high honors from the United States Coast Guard Academy in 1986 and William and Mary Law School in 1993. He was an officer, ship driver and attorney in the United States Coast Guard. He was a loving husband, father, son-in-law, brother and friend. Cdr Beyer was my Operations Officer aboard CGC Jarvis 1997-1999. He was an intelligent, insightful officer with a great sense of humor. His patience was endless, and he understood the lure of the sea. He played a huge role in my career, and I shall be ever grateful. Fair winds, and following seas, my friend. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, November 24th at 1300 in Gresham Hall on CG Island, ISC Alameda with Chaplain George Mendes officiating. All are welcome to attend. Memorial donations from Coast Guard Island will be made in Jon’s name to: The Brain Tumor Center at Duke University Medical Center, 047 Baker House, Trent Drive, DUMC Box 3624, Durham, NC 27710.
