William E. Bell

Posted by the Asbury Park Press on 07/10/07 WILLIAM E. BELL, 86, of Lincroft, MIDDLETOWN, died Thursday, July 5. Born Jan. 27, 1921, in Orange, he lived in East Orange, Montclair and Cedar Grove before moving to Lincroft six years ago. Mr. Bell served his country during World War II as a member of the U.S. Coast Guard. Prior to his retirement, he was a postal clerk in the Cedar Grove Post Office for many years. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Cedar Grove. He was a skilled artist and had a love for painting watercolor seascapes of the Maine seacoast. He also had a lifelong interest of listening to jazz music and attending concerts by our jazz masters. He was predeceased by his first wife, Mary Jane McMahon Bell, in 1997; and his second wife, Elaine Williams Bell, in 2003. He is survived by his son, Donald of Stroudsburg, Pa.; two daughters, Barbara Munson of Golden, Colo., and Carol Pluta of Wildomar, Calif.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and his brothers, Robert Bell of Brielle and Ernest Bell of Boise, Idaho. A private service was arranged under the direction of the Holmdel Funeral Home, Holmdel. Donations may be sent in William E. Bell's honor to your local Veterans of Foreign Wars post.
