LCDR Jim Arritt (ret)
On Friday afternoon, August 7, Jim Arritt passed away. He had been
battling with brain cancer for about 4 months. He is survived by his
wife, Callie Gaye Arritt, his sons James and Matt and Matt's wife Amy,
all of Woodbridge, Virginia. His mother, Kitty Arritt Fitzgerald and
step father Lem Fitzgerald also survive him. His funeral will be 4 pm
on 11 August at Granbery United Methodist Church in Covington, Virginia.
There will be a memorial service for him at Manassas Assembly of God in
Manassas, Virginia on Sat. August 15th at 11am.Commander Arritt served
in the USCG for 20 years. His duty stations were Hawaii, Gloucester
City NJ, HQ, Sitka AK, New York City, Portsmouth VA and back to HQ.
Of his many enjoyable assignments, probably his favorite was as XO of
the Ingham from '79 to '82. He loved the Coast Guard.All funny anecdotes
or tributes to Dad would be welcome at the above email address. Thank you
and God bless you. Dad handled his illness with courage and grace. Even
though he died, I think he finally got his miracle.
