Never in my wildest thoughts did I ever imagine Fred's Place would reach the 15,000 mark. Way back when it was becoming difficult for me to maintain Fred's Place single handed, Ralph Doolin volunteered to manage the Scuttlebutt Page. When it became impossible to adequately maintain the discussion board, Ralph again came to the rescue and implemented and now manages the Listserv service, CGTalk. At present, I receive approximately 200 e-mails daily plus the 20-30 new registrations, 50-60 directory changes (separations, retirements, promotions, e-mail address changes, etc.), and requests to edit 5 or 6 Reunion Hall tables. I'm looking for a Reunion Hall WebMaster. If you have the time and dedication to devote at least an half a hour a day, a working knowledge with File Transfer Protocol (FTP), TELNET Protocol, and HTML, please e-mail me. The Reunion Hall need not be moved, I will continue to provide internet access and disk space. If I cannot find some relief from the increasing workload, I will have to eliminate certain services or features. *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** In The Spotlight. This section of the Nuzletter is intended to introduce a feature at Fred's Place for new members and maybe refresh the memory of the oldtimers. In The Spotlight - Site Search Have you ever thought you saw something somewhere but can find it again? Fred's Place has a Site Search facility that will search through hundreds of individual web pages looking for a key word or phrase. You can access the Site Search facility from the Main Menu. *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** Key West Visit Continues. Fred's Place continues operating with limited internet access while I'm visiting Key West. Updates require commuting to Group Key West where telephone access is being provided. A special "Thank You" to CAPT Douglas "Rudy" Rudolph, CDR Brian D. Kelley, and the men and women of Group Key West for their gracious hospitality. *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** This and That. The purpose of this Nuzletter is twofold. First, to enlighten and entertain the crewmembers of Fred's Place. Secondly, to verify the registered e-mail addresses within our Directory. Reminder. Go to the Reunion Hall and visit each table (unit) you've been attached to and sign-in. The potential in finding that old shipmate increases with each participant. Contributions in support of Fred's Place. $85 was received since our last Nuzletter from 3 very generous shipmates. Your support is sincerely apreciated.
